This year is the 50th anniversary of the American Council of the Blind and we are honored the current ACB president Mitch Pomerantz and his wife, Donna, will be our featured speakers.  You can also meet and talk with our very own OCB member, LeRoy Saunders, past-President of ACB from 1989 to 1995.

Come and get to know our fellow members with a Friday night meal sponsored by the Heartland Council of the Blind and enjoy a wealth of activities.

The exhibit area at the Oklahoma Council of the Blind 2011 Convention and Conference will also feature the new state-adopted voting machine, which you will be able to see up close and personal on Saturday, September 24.  Don’t miss out on this special opportunity to see how voting will be truly accessible in the near future.  People with and without disabilities will use the same voting machine.

Please look me up at the convention as I enjoy meeting and talking with all of you.

--Jay Doudna, President

Convention registration

Convention registration is only $80, which includes your dinner Friday night (sponsored by the Heartland Council of the Blind), breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings, lunch on Saturday, and the Saturday night banquet.  Please register as soon as possible so the Convention Committee has time to prepare your name tags and registration packets in advance.  Complete the registration form at the end of this newsletter or go to OCB’s website at www.okcb.org.

The $80 registration fee is an excellent deal.  Please remember that the Oklahoma Council of the Blind must cover the expense of meeting rooms, printing the Convention program, paying for incidentals such as meals for speakers, etc.  Also, the cost of our meeting rooms is impacted by how many people reserve sleeping rooms at the hotel.  We appreciate your support. Mail registration forms to Treasurer Julie Bailey at 19425 E. 48th Street, Broken Arrow, OK 74014 or email to j.bailey@cox.net.
