Meeting Information

The Heartland Council of the Blind meets on the first Saturday of each month at Deaconess North, 5701 N. Portland in the basement. Meetings begin at 1:30 p.m. Special dinners and related events may occasionally be held at the Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, 300 N. E. 18^th Street, Oklahoma City. Officers are elected in September at our annual meeting.

Recent meetings have included a mini-legislative seminar, a program

on the Accessible Instructional Materials (AIM) Center at the Oklahoma

Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped and an informative

presentation by Precision Optical showcasing new and used CCTVs

and magnifying glasses.

Future plans include a CPR class, White Cane Safety Awareness Day

activities in October, a tour of the Library's Digital Recording Studio

and a couple of holiday celebrations.

Whether you are newly blind or have been blind all of your life or

whether you are a sighted person who is simply interested, come join

us the first Saturday of every month.
